Back in October of 2008, I canoed on Norcan Lake, near Frontenac County, ON, as part of a class trip back in high school, with 43 other teenage students. I found these relics on the island I stayed on (island shown below). The area where the lake currently resides used to be a hunting camp, before a nearby dam was constructed, which flooded said camp, and formed the lake in 1943.

I spotted various old cans laying around, and picked some of them up. I unfortunately didn't pick up the one below.

Kinja'd!!!

The cans have aged rather well, despite being 30+ years exposed to the elements. Red fades out a lot quicker than other colours, as seen on the Pepsi and 7-up cans. Any ideas on how old these cans are? Some mysterious cans of "Snowmobile oil" also were found.

Just to keep this relevant to cars, what car did this come out of?,,

That's awesome! They aged great, I'd be expecting them to be rusted to bits by now.

That's neat. It takes me back to my days of collecting soda cans back in the mid-seventies. Though I'm guessing those push tops are older still.

Apparently, metrication in Canada began in the early '70s, and the now-standard 355ml (12 fl. oz.) aluminium can was standardized in the '80s.

So, I'm guessing somewhere between early '70s and early '80s.

EDIT: These are never 100% accurate, since different countries have their logo changed at different times, but I'm think we can narrow it down to '80-'86 or so.

not a problem. my mother is thoroughly disgusted by these cans though, and wants me to throw them away, along with everything else.
